Since 1969, Opportunity Camp has given campers a unique opportunity to experience the pure joy of summer, camping, developing friendships
and having fun. We pride ourselves on creating a safe environment where children are supported as they play and grow together. Our
campgrounds are nestled among the California Redwoods in a beautiful mountain setting. This offers the perfect surroundings for some
great camp adventures. Opportunity Camp has all of the programs and activities of a large camp, yet is intimate enough that everyone
knows each other. Welcome back to summer as it was always meant to be – welcome to Opportunity Camp!
At Opportunity Camp we value each child. We are strongly committed to making each campers experience special. Our Director, the
Management Team and staff actively create a social dynamic where all campers feel safe and included. Our camp counselors strive to
create an atmosphere where boys and girls 7-14 are provided an incredibly rich and rewarding camp experience. Opportunity Camp is a
caring community where everyone fits in. Individual campers become a team as they have tons of fun with their cabin units, building
friendships, exploring, making crafts, performing and challenging themselves during organized activities. Whether you are a first timer
or have been with us for years, from the moment you arrive you will be part of the Opportunity Camp family.
Opportunity Camp helps the underprivileged children of Contra Costa County learn to overcome obstacles and learn to discipline oneself
in response to the challenges in their lives.
Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved in the mission of Opportunity Camp. Each year, hundreds of volunteers give of their time to serve as cooks,
counselors, and much more. Others share in our mission by donating products or making a financial contribution.
Look around and learn how you can get involved in this life-changing ministry.
It's that time again - time to get ready and prepared for a week at Opportunity Camp. Let me thank you for your decision to make yourself
available to God to serve in this way. God uses our availability much more than our ability. Opportunity Camp has been a special place
for over forty years because of people like you. What you do between now and the week of camp is very important. I hope you will join me
in praying for our fellow staff members, volunteers who will come to Opportunity Camp from across the country. Most of all, I hope you
will begin praying for our campers. For one week, God will entrust them to each of us. What a great privilege! Enclosed is a copy of this
year's teaching material. It is designed to give you an overview of each day's theme, along with questions you can use on your Forest
Walk. The more familiar you become with the themes and passages, the better equipped you will be. Once again, thank you for serving God
by serving his children.
